Physical Requirements

In my previous post, I mentioned about the physical demands of the sport.

Being physically active results to benefits for the soul, mind, and body. Personally, I resort to volleyball and exercise to relieve minor body aches (I'm weird like that) and even stress.

To be a good volleyball player, spiking ability is not enough. You need to work on your stamina, speed, and agility. Flexibility and balance are very important, too. You also need to work on lower body strength and leg power so you can jump to attack, block, set. http://workouthq.org is a good resource for exercises that you can start with or incorporate in your current training program. It also has other fitness-related articles that are very relevant.

If you are planning to play volleyball competitively, you need to be ready to subject yourself to rigorous training. I suggest that you undergo a comprehensive medical check-up to make sure that you are healthy enough to go through the process.

Let me warn you, though. It's not all physical. A big part of it is mental conditioning, so be prepared for that, too.

Good luck!
